What is an extension number? Is there a difference between a line and an extension?
At Vonage®, an extension is your phone number. But unlike traditional phone system lines, our extensions work by allowing different devices to register with your phone system IP address. So as long as your phone is connected to internet it can be located by the phone system, and receive calls at the appropriate extension number.
When you sign up for Vonage, you’ll receive your own Vonage Business extension number that you can use with up to three different devices (e.g., desk phone at work, desk phone at home or on your smartphone, tablet or laptop using our mobile app .
